We recently (September 2024) got new CPUs from the Ryzen 9000 Series while the ’X3D’ CPUs are just around the corner. If you have a Ryzen 7000 CPU and looking to get the next-gen (Zen 5) gaming performance, you can upgrade to the Ryzen 9000 Series X3D CPUs when they release without any issue.

For the same price, desktops can deliver superior performance because they do not require the compact, specialized components found in laptops.
